Problem
Users of Talent Ticker required a way to track news items, companies, and candidates across the platform, giving them the ability to organize and monitor their workload on the platform. A team manager also needs the ability to monitor their team's projects.
Process
My process consists of 3 main phases; discovery, exploration, and design. The requirement for this product came directly from customer feedback gathered from a video call and a requirement to match similar tools within the market. The exploration phase involved wireframing and product mapping to find possible solutions to make the process as easy and intuitive as possible. My favorite part, the design: this process I usually begin with a mood board from sources such as Dribbble, Behance, Pinterest, and Instagram then look at tools that exist within the market. I tend to skip the low fidelity mock-ups and go straight for high def as I find this just as quick, from there I look for initial feedback from my Product Manager and tweak from there.
Outcome
This product feature is currently still in the development stage. Overall I was very happy with the designs, I feel the improvements answered the initial problem and made it an even better tool to track workflow.
Learnings
Making improvements to an already existing product meant I could spend more time in the research stage of the project, getting feedback from current users on what the pain points are and what improvements the user would find most useful.
