Problem
A way to integrate easily into a recruiters day, enabling strong product stickiness and providing the user with a quick and seamless way to connect with candidates. Creating an entry to the platform via a free extension would encourage interest to purchase the full product.
Process
Discovery - Competitor research first and foremost as there are currently some great extensions in the marketplace which are already in heavy use by our target market. Exploration - During this phase of iterations, I created wireframes and user journeys outlining the most useful features of the platform. Design - I tackled this project in phases as it was going to be built using the agile sprint method. Starting with the company spotlight information and the extension as a user without an account. From there, the platform integration such as news and contacts, utilizing the credits system for individual contacts, and then the integration with Linkedin.
Outcome
This project is currently close to releasing and has been tested on a small selection of customers for initial feedback. The response was positive, through user feedback it was discovered that it was missing some navigation in order to return to certain parts of the extension and the ability to add the chrome extension to the left or right of the browser helped with usability.
Learnings
Scope creep occurred when It was uncovered the current log-in flow wasn’t going to work effectively via the chrome ext. I learned it’s important to keep time in a project for additional discoveries. For this project, I was also part of the QA which helped when tweaking certain aspects of the design & build.
