Problem
The current sign-up form wasn’t fit for purpose. Improve the onboarding process of the platform, appealing to mobile users and target demographic.
Process
Discovery - Dribbble! An awesome place for inspiration, I created a mood board on XD of my favorite onboarding flows and went from there. Exploration - Downloading as many new and modern apps as possible and getting stuck into their onboarding. My favorite - Lemonade. Design - Working out the best user flow using low def mock-ups. Making sure that all accessibility functions were available and the process was easy to drop in and out of.
Outcome
A greatly (the numbers show it!) improved user flow. increasing the conversation rate of the signup process by 64%.
Learnings
I learned that not all the dribbble mock-ups make for a friendly user flow, just because the first design looks nice - It doesn’t highlight the process or the hidden pain points within it.
